“Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher”: an adage that is vividly echoed in her art as Dhanashri paints in cohesion of her inspiration.
Originally from Pune, India and an Ottawa resident from past 12 years, Dhanashri Bapat is an active artist on Ottawa’s art scene. Her artistic senses, particularly in painting, have always been significantly coursing through her childhood. She pursued and earned thus, her Applied Arts degree from Abhinav Kala Academy and worked as a freelance designer in India before focusing on Fine Arts.
Eternally mesmerized by the beauty and elegance that is nature, Dhanashri revels in the translation of its immense scope onto her canvas. Dhanashri primarily uses water colors to best depict her work. She believes that the versatility of this medium helps imbibe her perception of nature. Be it a humble pebble, the provocations of a wild flower, or the murmurs of a gentle stream passing by, her paintings speak for themselves as they portray this grace of nature with its delicate nuances. Her painting style is evolving as she is exploring & experimenting with different mediums or subjects. The teaching experience also enriches her to learn & grow more as an artist.
She is an active member of many local art societies and has been participating regularly in their juried and group shows. She has many successful solo shows to her credit as well. Her paintings grace the walls of various local art galleries. She teaches watercolour painting at Ottawa School of Art - Orleans Campus & Kanata Campus and also offers private lessons and workshops.
